Why LVS BES
Students on Bonaire, Sint-Eustatius and Saba grow up in a multilingual environment. It is therefore essential to organize education, including testing, accordingly. That is why the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (Ministerie van OCW in Dutch) commissioned the development of standardized formative language follow-up tests for primary and secondary education in the Caribbean Netherlands in 2020.
The tests
LVS BES is a student monitoring system with tests for four different subjects: English, Dutch as a Foreign Language (NVT in Dutch), Papiamentu and Basic Math. Depending on the skill, tests are administered digitally, in a purpose-built test platform, or paper-based.

Administration and assessment of the tests
The Reading, Listening, Spelling and Basic Math tests are administered digitally in the test platform of LVS BES; whereas Writing and Speaking tests are paper-based.
